Objectives

  • Take a ride with an FAA Designated Examiner, and come home with the certificate

Session Details

This is what you have been working toward all these weeks/months/years. You will be making an appointment with a FAA Designated Examiner knowing that you are prepared to meet the challenge. Rather than include a lot of detail in this page you are referred, by the link below, to an article I’ve written detailing both the steps to perform prior to checkride, and preparing for the checkride itself.

In short, however, what is required is that you submit an application, make an appointment with an examiner, and then go meet with the DPE for your checkride. There are three possible outcomes. They are :

  • Pass: A Temporary Airman Certificate will be issued.

  • Fail: A Notice of disapproval of application will be issued. Credit may be given for Areas of Operation and tasks completed.

  • Letter of Discontinuance: Issued in the event the test cannot be completed once it has begun.

Obviously the goal is to "Pass", but the other two outcomes are not the end of the line, and both can be addressed and a successful outcome can still be had. Have faith in yourself, the work you have done, and you’ll do great.
