The Wings of Carolina Flying Club has a designated practice area defined for solo student practice. The area is depicted in the snippet of a sectional chart reproduced below.

The practice area is defined by the following boundaries :
-
US-1 from the Deep River bridge to US-421 near Sanford
-
US-421 north to US-64 near Siler City
-
US-64 east to the western edge of Lake Jordan
-
The western edge of Lake Jordan to US-1 at the Deep River bridge
Students are required to stay within this boundary for all solo student flights (unless specifically endorsed by their instructor otherwise). Student solo flights in the practice area must have weather minimums of 5SM visibility and a ceiling no less than 3000 feet.
We should be clear that this practice area is a construct of the club, and has no regulatory standing. This isn’t mandated by, or overseen by, the FAA in any way. We also do not have any sort of exclusive use of this area and careful watch should be maintained for other aircraft transitioning the space.
If you need assistance from ATC (i.e. you get disoriented and need a vector back to the club) you can contact RDU (Raleigh) approach on 132.35, or FAY (Fayetteville) approach on 125.175. If you are at the far western end of the practice are, or fear you have accidentally flown out of the practice area to the west, you can contact GSO (Greensboro) approach on 126.6.
